If you have Kerbal Space Program installed, delete it right fucking now. It collects every piece of info it can about you and sells it to third parties. It collects far more than even most other pieces of spyware do. They quite literally know where you live, your phone number, what you look like, all your social medias, every game you have on steam, how much you've payed for them, and more. They quite literally know more about you than you do. I'm only bringing this to your attention so I have an excuse to post this iron that will not have an effect on the sharty's wellbeing whatsoever.

https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/ksp has more info on this than I could be bothered to tell you, go and give it a read or you VVILL get 'oxxed by your video game.

Most videogames do dis saar, why are you surprised? Deny network access to every app except your browser, this way (((they))) won't datamine you.
After installing a firewall you'll be amazed how many apps which don't need network for functioning at all still use it

How do I set a firewall rule on Linux just for one program? The UI of the firewall doesn't have that function. Would be appreciated if there was a way to block proton games as well.

do proton games have the same capability to harvest data? because even doe they have the ability to, they're not running under a proper system, so I would be inclined to think that it will only collect whatever data it can find in your wineprefix, which should be almost nothing. idk doe and that's only what I would think to be the case.

>>34797
That's true, and the wine prefix has nothing personal, but they may still send over your hardware configuration, which is still a data point.

Search for per-app controlling firewalls and pick one you like the most. Also remember that firewall itself may contain spyware and ideally you should be able to make it block itself. Use wireshark to check it
>>34797
Since you're asking such questions and use (((Steam))) you have already been thoroughly datamined. ANY installed app with internet access can leak your data. Linux alone is not enough for good opsec.

why does a game need this much info

 â„–34801[Quote]

that's interesting
years ago, I remember I couldn't play KSP because I has hamachi network adapter, after uninstalling it, it suddenly worked which I found weird since ksp is sp and has no connectivity, maybe it was because of the spyware?

I have Linux, and most distros already have a firewall installed

opsec level: I posted on the DNB board

 â„–34847[Quote]

>>34817
It's top opsec because nobody looks at whatever data you posted

security by obscurity

 â„–34864[Quote]

>>34808
It's disabled by default or has "allow all" settings. And default ones don't have per-app control. Believing that linux will do everything for you is hunky level opsec
