When did you understand that tech jobs have nothing to do with programming and you can derive joy from writing code only if you build a pet project? I dont even work in IT anymore because I'm tired of learning 10000 things that I have no interest in and will be irrelevant in a year when you'll have to learn another 10000 things and repeat this cycle until you're laid off in favour of a jeet or AI. Programming was my dream job but it crushed hard, now I only write code as a hobby and am trying to create products with embedded and stuff, I helped a relative with it so I got some experience. Idk. I just dream of becoming a rich capitalist and spending my spare time writing opensource stuff nophono cares fan about for fun in my free time. Or something to that extent yeah

Don't you have quite a lot of maths in your curriculum? The systems engineering wing of my school has a lot more of that, in comparison to the computers & information technology wing I'm in (year 2 we didn't have any maths except Statistics & Systems Theory in the 1st semester, but from now on everything seems to be computer related for me (not just programming, we also have Computer Architecture right now)

when someone i knew described what their job is like
all paperwork and working with whatever endless shit someone decided to use instead of something reasonable
just write whatever you want and then if you think it's good, distribute the source
if it's not good, rewrite it over and over again until there is nothing that could go wrong with it

Jobs will never be perfect where you do only the things you want. The best you can hope for is at least getting a somewhat desirable balance of bullshit:fun
