Try booting to recovery mode and check if there are only two options there if that's the case you can know for certain you can't install any custom rom on YOUR phone.

I had a xiaomi aswell, trust me it became fucking niggerhell to unlock the bootloader to flash a custom rom onto it
though there is a bypass, it only works for the newer phones at a specific version
