first of all, im not a low iq tech illiterate nigger. i know my shit and ive used troonix before so i dont need "basic" distros like ubuntu or mint

ill be using this pc (full amd) primarily for gayming.
the aur from arch is definitely useful, but do i really need it? most software that i need is probably on wtv fedora uses (without having to rely on flatpak i hope)

its either cachyos or fedora kde. ive thought of using bazzite at first but the devs are globohomos, and theres probably not much difference between it and regular fedora. same thing with nobara probably

 β„–31148[Quote]

i use fedora and the only mandatory thing to adjust are media codecs through rpmfusion and terra. what programs do you use doe?

 β„–31153[Quote]

I had a system where fedora booted slower than windows 11 (fairly recent, i5 10500, 16gb ram, nvme ssd so it's not something found in a junkyard). Arch based distros (cachy, endeavour) booted faster, and I found pacman to perform better.
Cachy may also bring a few % of performance due to its binaries being compiled for newer instruction sets. If your AMD processor is 7000 series or newer, you'll get even more optimizations.
The problem people have against Fedora is that it's designed to lock you into components of the operating system made by redhat. Bazzite may even be worse for someone who is NOT tech illiterate, since it's an immutable distro (it has an unchangeable image, you can only install programs from flatpaks).

>what programs do you use doe?
not many, as i said the main use i give to this PC is web browsing and gaming.
- helium (may switch to brave origin) and librewolf
- steam
- 'cord (i use the goofcord client)
i will obv install more stuff as time goes on, but primarily just these.

>If your AMD processor is 7000 series or newer, you'll get even more optimizations.
nah, i have a 5800X and i dont think that ill upgrade it in a long time.

>t's designed to lock you into components of the operating system made by redhat

i dont care too much about this, at least for now. but good to know nonetheless

>Bazzite may even be worse for someone who is NOT tech illiterate, since it's an immutable distro (it has an unchangeable image, you can only install programs from flatpaks).

wow ok its way more limited than i thought geg.

What games do you play on steam?

>>31185
This is also an option OP should look into, it's arch without systemd (a thing redhat wants to lock you in). You can get it with a graphical installer, or fully manual install, whichever you want. You can use cachy or zen kernel if you want to squeeze out all the performance.

TroonOS vs KikeOS

Gentoo with a desktop profile. All you have to do is walk through the handbook (I recommend doing this once just because it teaches you so much) and then install any DE and login manager you want. Then you get a faster and lighter OS than Cachy. Yes the install process is long but after you do it once, just find a script online.

Fedora is much better

 β„–31271[Quote]

sorry for the late response 'teens, ive been kinda occupied lately.

>>31186
>What games do you play on steam?
a bit of everything, but mostly AAA stuff. the only mp games that i still play are CS2, TF2 and old CoD zombies, which work perfectly fine on Linux.

>>31185
youre right. i may actually do this.
which init should i use? ive read on plebbit that dinit is faster, also seen a lot of people using openrc.

>>31188
ive thought about using gentoo, but maybe thats a bit too much for a nusoi like me. i could watch some of the old mental outlaw guides on it but even then i dont think the benefits of compiling each package with custom flags, etc are that important for my workflow, but idk i could be wrong

 β„–31272[Quote]

>>31147 (OP)
uhhhhhhhh just use whichever one has more up to date graphics drivers, you fucking asshole. i think arch is more up to date, but they're probably both fine.

 β„–31428[Quote]

You need to use arch for the AUR nigger it’s called distrobox

 β„–31429[Quote]

>Fedora is much better
But do install sdboot, EFIpart >= 2G

Separate /home AND avoid btrfs, (Just use ext4) if you wanna be able to distrohop later
