Not him but lab reports, at least for me, are more about presenting information effectively and getting the style and methodology (especially shit like uncertainty propagation) right instead of being particularly theory intensive.
I'm not saying theory doesn't matter at all, but it doesn't feel like it's the main focus either when having to write lab reports.
