Whiteness among West Eurasians is solely determined by a handful of alleles, namely, SLC24A5, SLC45A2, HERC2, TYR, and IRF4. These genes work independently of one another, and their effects stack, the more you have.
SLC24A5 occurs very widely across most west Eurasians. In Europe, it's near 100% frequency, same with the North Middle East (Iran, Turkey, and everything to it's north). In South Middle East and North Africa, it drops to ~85% frequency. In the North of South Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, northern parts of India), it's ~80% and in South India it's ~30%.
Although SLC24A5 occurs frequently among many Brown people, SLC45A2 is what generally sets Europe apart. In Northern Europe, the freuqency is near 100%, but as soon as you get to Central Europe, it drops to ~90%, and down to ~80% in Southern Europe. It drops sharply going into the Northern Middle East, at around 25%. In South Middle East and North Africa, it's ~10% frequency. In the North of South Asia, it's only ~5%. And in South India it's effectively nonexistent.
These 2 genes are the biggest predictors of light skin tone. The remaining ones are secondary to it, but have primary effects on other traits
HERC2 is the strongest predictor of Blue and Green eyes, but also affects skin color. It has an ~80% frequency in North Europe, ~45% in South Europe, ~30% in North Middle East, 15% in South Middle East and North Africa, ~10% in North South Asia, less than 5% in South India.
TYR has similar effects to HERC2, and similarly starts higher at 50% in Northern Europe, then tapers off as it reaches South India.
IRF4 is a unique allele. It's the one that causes freckles, very pale and untannable skin which burns easily, and lighter colored hair. It occurs at ~20% in Northern Europe, reaching peaks in people of Celtic descent, with a ~5% frequency in Southern Europe and ~1% in the Middle East and North Africa, and is almost nonexistent elsewhere.
Now the interesting thing is that East Asians actually get their lighter skin from a completely different set of genes and pathways. This makes sense when you remember that West Eurasians and East Eurasians are very genetically dissimilar, despite sharing an apophenic trait of lighter colored skin. They do not have meaningful frequencies of any of the above alleles except HERC2, which occurs at less than 5% frequency. The main East Asian alleles which predict light skin are OCA2 and MFSD12, both of which basically don't occur at all in the rest of the world. None of any of these alleles mentioned occur in any significant capacity in Subsaharan Africa.

to summarize it simply, ANF replaced most of their diet with one or 2 cultivated grains, as opposed to hunter gatherers who had a diverse diet with a lot of meat. Meat has a lot of vitamin D, which they therefore got from their diet, it keeps them healthy. ANF got no vitamin D from their diet, so the ones with lighter skin which allowed more sun to penetrate and synthesize vitamin D that way ended up being healthier which natural selection chose for.

ZNF also invented farming, although they are much less grains, their farming was mostly pastoral, especially goats and later, cattle. Their diet was supported with some meat, but mainly a lot of dairy products, a lot. They invented and ate cheese, yogurt, and butter. These products have some vitamin D in them unline grains which basically have none, but they still synthesized the majority from the sun, which was strong and prevalent in west and south asia where they lived. This is why they remained partially brown
