Probably not. But AI does create real risks, and nobody can honestly guarantee that extremely advanced future AI poses zero existential risk.
Today's AI systems aren't independently plotting to kill humanity. The serious long-term concern is that much more capable systems could behave in harmful, unintended ways if humans build or deploy them without adequate control, security, and safeguards. There are also nearer-term risks-AI-assisted cybercrime, misinformation, autonomous weapons, accidents, and concentration of power-that don't require a sci-fi scenario.
So "AI will kill us all" is not an established prediction. A more accurate statement is: catastrophic AI risk is uncertain, potentially very serious, and worth working to prevent.
