The Left doesn't give two shits about marginalized groups. Just because they say they do doesn't mean jack. If they actually cared about blacks, they would nurture them so Black fathers didn't abandon their children at birth. If they cared about the way gays are perceived by the public, they wouldn't normalize nude pride parades and teaching about gay pride in schools and would hold internal standards. For crying out loud, Thomas Sowell himself, a Black American economist, stated that quote:
The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals' expansion of the welfare state.
I despise both sides equally, but at least the neoconservatives are more honest with their voter base by explicitly stating that they don't care.
Marriage for the longest time was (and still is) a sacred act done between two adults of the opposite sex, where two people become one so they can participate in the creation of life. This is the case with the main Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism). Therefore, we can deduce that the word "marriage" belongs specifically to religious groups that wish to honor their God. In all of these religions, homosexuality is condemned as a sin, a lustful temptation that must be resisted. Considering that homosexuals don't give a shit about the spiritual aspect of marriage, the only thing that they have to gain from marriage are the financial benefits that come with marriage, like certain tax benefits. That's it. And instead of progressives looking for a compromise like allowing for civil unions between two adults of any sex (thereby keeping it entirely neutral) and separating civil unions from marriage, they instead decided to steal the word from the religious groups. The term "gay marriage" (given the historical meaning of the word "marriage") is oxymoronic and nonsensical, using the power of the state to mock the religious institutions that had a large cultural influence a few decades ago. The fact that gay marriage advocates seek to justify the integration of gay marriage in the legal system through financial terminology is proof that they don't understand the word that they are using, because financials are arguably the least important things under a sacred, religious marriage. I have no problem with civil unions, but using the word "marriage" is going a step too far.
Most people (myself included) have no problem with controlled immigration that allow for people to look for a better future in another country. But spinning that as "Just have open borders" shows a complete lack of respect for the culture of your country. The type of immigration you're referring to isn't impacted by the recent policies of the US and some European countries. Hell, take a look at Poland, for instance. When the war at Russia broke out, lots of Ukrainians fled to Poland, and the Polish government accepted them since they understood that these people, apart from fleeing a war, were also respectful of the current culture of Poland and were willing to integrate by understanding the language and the cultural norms given enough time. Do you genuinely believe that the average African immigrating to Western countries has the same respect for the culture of the country that he is going to as the Ukrainian, especially when he refuses to properly integrate by at least learning the language,if we are being fair with historical data, communists were just as bad as the Nazis.
