The country with the shortest executive terms in the world is San Marino, lasting only 6 months. Your thoughts on this?

San Francisco

That's dumb.

San Marino is Italians. San Fransisco is gays.

It's been the country's system since 1243. That's a long time for a dumb system to last.

Must've been a really unpopular regime considering the people ran to elect the far-left as soon as democracy was restored.
>>4143313
I agree, frequent rotation in office is good even if it hurts the ambitions of oligarchs jockeying for access to the public trough.

I was quite shocked realizing not every country has elections every 4 years or so, also that's stupid

What are your genuine thoughts on it though? You have a perspective which is very distinct from the board's average.

 β„–4143339[Quote]

How the fuck are they politically stable, any long term change implemented by one party will just be nullified by the other if they get elected out no

Like the amerimutta creatura put it, you really don't have time to do anything, the only reason this works is due to San Marino being a SNCA small country so much less stuff to control for.

I don't have particularly strong feelings about it. I think it's fine, and mitigates the issues of long term leadership to some extent, but I feel like that can be done in a better way. Of course, the preferable outcome is without statism

4 years is fine, but with more measures to prevent bullshittery while a president is in office. I can't tell you exactly how, but something like midterms, but stronger, and more frequent. Something that would prevent the exemplary Trump 47 administration and its decisions. Maybe an annual vote that could remove some power from the president, or remove him entirely, depending on its outcome

Good. An ideal executive isn't some visionary strongman, it's a constricted manager who governs reactively on day-to-day issues like diplomacy.

 β„–4143372[Quote]

>>4143367
Fuck you I want strongmen that'll lead a country into either complete shit or into unparalleled greatness, democratic executives do the same but in just a longer period of time and that's gay.

4 years but at the end of each year of his presidency (so 3 times because at the fourth one it's already over) a vote is held to keep him in power, and if 66.7% of people vote to remove him from office he gets literally ostracized

 β„–4143375[Quote]

Of course, not every leader will be like this, I think any healthy society has its fair share of gay faggots leaders who care about mundane shit, using democracy to reach power, and the truly revolutionary of mankind which destroy democracy temporarily for the sake of their strongman dictatorship.

The American system needs a total overhaul if this country is to be redeemed. I would say 2 or 3 years is a fine enough term limit for America because it is larger and more involved globally than San Marino and Switzerland (1 year executive terms). Allow unlimited terms, but no consecutive terms. Also, reverse Progressive Era civil service reform that ended the spoils system because it was just transparent politics. The current system just encourages executives and legislature to expand bureaucracy due to being unable to simply replace existing bureaucrats on a basis of partisan loyalty.

It would far cheaper to buy off candidates that'll be in office for six months instead of four years
