>>4136653Don't we all scrape information from our surrounding environments to conjure up something new? Isn't that what AI does on an internet sized scale? Just because an AI can do what man can't do in 10 lifetimes doesn't mean that the methods used are unorthodox or inherently different that ours. If I asked you to draw a picture of a cantaloupe, but you had no idea what a cantaloupe looked like, you would go to your search engine of choice, search for cantaloupes, go to images and be faced with a million references as to what a cantaloupe looks like. AI is the same, except unlike you, it can store all the details of the cantaloupe from all the millions of images, allowing it to perfectly replicate the look in mere seconds. It's ultimately just pattern recognition.
And the argument of AI not having any agency, thereby deeming the art produced from it as trash or not real art, is a moot point because AI is a tool. This argument is akin to me stating that normal pencil drawn art is not art because the pencil clearly lacks conscience and moral intuitions. Of course, you would counter this statement by stating that the moral intuition lies in the user of the tool, not the tool itself. The same is true for AI art.
