if a program is good, sing their praises, credit them and recommend it to others. if the program depends on donations and you have the means to contribute, you can or cannot contribute. the gender identity or ideology of the people making the program should be irrelevant there. they are merely providing a service and if that service suits your needs and serves you well everything else is irrelevant.

Recommend the program, sure, but don't go out of your way to defend the developers. As for giving them money, I'm sorry but when they go out of their way to say that their program is in service of retarded politics then to financially support them is to validate those politics. Take it on a case by case basis, I guess. If the software has no compelling alternatives, it needs regular maintenance, and its contributors are struggling financially then maybe give a bit to encourage them to keep the project maintained. Otherwise, I wouldn't.
