Trigger warning: rape, SA
Before anything else, I need to say that I was sexually abused yesterday, and I'm still trying to process what happened.
Because of that, I've been thinking a lot about my life and about how long I've spent hiding parts of myself from other people.
Coming out is something I've been terrified of, but I'm finally ready to say it: I'm transgender.
Being abused does not have anything to do with me being trans, and I don't want those two things to be confused with each other.
But yesterday left me feeling vulnerable in a way I wasn't prepared for, and it also made me realize how tired I am of keeping everything inside.
Coming out right now is scary, especially while I'm still dealing with what happened, but there is also some relief in finally being honest.
Before anyone asks, I don't think what happened was my fault.
Being able to say this somewhere, even anonymously, feels like a small step toward taking control of my own life again.
Currently, I don't really know what I'm looking for from posting this, other than maybe some understanding from people who've been through something similar.
