I watched it, and it was ok, but explain to me, how it can hold a candle to the Godfather? Maybe there's something I missed, but what was it?
>bzzz bzzzz Goodfellas is about a half Irish and half mexican bla bla bla

damn. no other phono watched it?

I thought the godfather was boring tbh. I don't get the obsession with mob films. Sopranos was good doe

 â„–3959161[Quote]

>>3959075 (OP)
It obviously can not compare to Ford Coppola's Godfather. Did you watch Scarface perchance?

 â„–3959163[Quote]

The atmosphere, the scene quality, the set design the twists! how can you not enjoy it?

I can certainly understand why. the Luis' diner scene, the morgue scene! so good!

 â„–3959182[Quote]

Overrated. Marlon Brando's terrible fake accent. I know it isn't responsible for them but very tropey. Its one of those movies you respect cuz its important for its time, but really not an interesting watch in relation to modern films.

its a pretty sad state of modern media when genuinely the best thing ive seen in over half a decade has been fucking live action one piece…

 â„–3959234[Quote]

I mean modern in comparison. Not necessarily a film made in [CURRENT YEAR/DECADE]

Yes, that literally lessens the appeal. I also really didn't care fan about the characters, just not much personality and depth.

I loved the vito flashbacks, but the whole rest of the movie gets ruined for me, due to the ending. Fredo was like Bobby, except it wasn't the big arch nemesis, that decided to kill him, but the dude we're meant to root for. I get that that was very intentional, but it still doesn't sit right with me

 â„–3959255[Quote]

>>3959226
Yeah it is rather sad. I watched Project Hail Mary, which was really really good, with such a unique concept. I really liked that one.

 â„–3959256[Quote]

Oh okay. But still, your critique does not really make sense.

 â„–3959258[Quote]

evendoe Thomas and sonny are arguably more central to the plot
>Yes, that literally lessens the appeal
not the quality doe
>I also really didn't care fan about the characters, just not much personality and depth.
fair point, but their chemistry was clearly the focus when writing

 â„–3959259[Quote]

>>3959235
i have not, havent even heard of it. i will say i lied though, zach cregger made Weapons like a year ago and that was pretty badass. never thought the retard writing WKUK sketches could make a decent horror movie

The backrooms movie was total garbage if we are being honest. Completely twisted the original promise of the Backrooms and turned it into mass-commercialized normie slop.

 â„–3959267[Quote]

I always really liked the John Wick films.

 â„–3959268[Quote]

 â„–3959269[Quote]

None of this is true, except for the twisting of the original. It's clearly a character exploration, with symbolisms strewn about

 â„–3959281[Quote]

>>3959268
I started it, but It became really obvious, how it had lost it's soul. The whole celebration at the beginning of the movie trope had completely lost it's meaning. before it was meant to show how the family operates at it's brightest hour. the director didn't understand that, and included it because
>It's tradition

>>3959273
The message is that some people just suck. That's it.

The storyline about Michael investigating the attempt on his life is very interesting and suspenseful.
Young Vito's storyline is very cool and the scene where he stalks don Fanucci through the street mogs the entire rest of world cinema combined.
The theme of Michael losing his entire family one by one until he ends up completely alone is a good development of his arc and also gives the viewer somewhat of a moral lesson. The contrast between this and Vito's story of growing his family and his friend circle makes it even better.

The first movie is a masterpiece too, but the story is just so simple and straightforward. The only reason you like it more than the second movie is because it is the first movie, so your expectations for the sequel are higher.
