Country music is either amazing or the most mutted kitsch slop imaginable. What's up with that?

I've noticed, but I only like older country. The newer one seems like hiphop but for white trash.

Not all modern country. Cowpunk, psychobilly, and Hank IV's stuff is good.

you have great and damaged men singing about the pain of loss and the trials they've overcome through the decades or you have beergirltruck.mp3 #1658393

You're from Virginia. Your people have a long and storied tradition of music that extends centuries before country music. You ever listen to old time traditional American folk? My daughter and I have an old time band, I play banjo and fiddle while she sings and plays guitar. American trad music is the best in the world. People talk about the influences of country and rock and always want to attribute it to niggers but the fact is old time folk music is the foundation of this nation's music.

They got rid of voice recordings on the sharty or I'd record you some trad songs right now. I love American traditional music and I'm somewhat accomplished on the fiddle and banjo. My daughter and I have a pretty prominent local band where we're from but it's a very small town, so I'm sure you understand why I can't dox myself.

Here's an example of a song we play.

You should look into old time music. It's far more edgy than that gay modern angsty shit, and the songs resonate to this day because they're about real shit.

Here's a song about not being able to find a good woman because they fucking railroad men.

This song's about a man who spurned a woman for another, who was then murdered by his former lover in a jealous rage. Instead of throwing his old lover under the bus to be executed, whom he had promised her hand in marriage, he stepped up to the gallows and uttered a few cryptic last words about how he loved Laurie Foster, the woman who was murdered, and never harmed a hair on her head.

there was only 4 lines to the whole song… and it was just 2 that repeated like a minute apart…
