{Until when death comes to one of them, he says: "My Lord, send me back (99) that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected} [al-Mu'minun: 99-100].
{Say to those who have disbelieved: if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility]-then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place. (38) And fight them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion is all for Allah. And if they cease-then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do. (39) But if they turn away-then know that Allah is your Protector. Excellent is the Protector, and excellent is the Helper} [al-'Anfal: 38-40].
{If you seek the victory-the victory has come to you. And if you desist, it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and your company will never avail you at all even if it should increase, and [that is] because Allah is with the believers} [al-'Anfal: 19].
{Or do they say: "We are an assembly prevailing"? (44) Their assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in flight]. (45) But the Hour is their appointment, and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter. (46) Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness} [al-Qamar: 44-47].
{So that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the good, and place the wicked some of them upon others and heap them all together and put them into Jahannam. Those are the losers} [al-'Anfal: 37].
