Once at the uni I wrote an essay on the topic of UBI, in which I stated that as society develops, material inequalities deepen, leading to revolution or collapse of that society, and that UBI would be a tool of the elites to maintain the status quo and ultimately eliminate the middle class. I was too embarrassed to submit it, so in the end I didn't submit any paper at all. Fortunately, my class participation and tests' results were enough for me to get a pass at the end of the semester.
