Many argue that if two consenting adults are involved, there is no moral issue whatsoever. "It's just sex" they say, but this superficial view ignores something deeper about human nature, what separates us from animals is not merely intelligence, orcas, for example, display complex communication, planning, empathy, and even mourning, what truly defines us as human is our capacity to act against our instincts, to exercise self-control, and to prioritize what elevates our humanity rather than simply satisfying the flesh, sexual desires are powerful and, to a large extent, animalistic, they come from evolutionary impulses made for reproduction and immediate pleasure, when we surrender to them without restraint, especially in ways that deviate from the reproductive and relational pattern historically associated with our species, we experience an internal discomfort. This is not due to "social oppression" In modern societies like the USA, modesty has been almost entirely abolished, and there are even laws that criminalize criticism of certain sexual behaviors, nevertheless, rates of depression, anxiety, suicide, and relational dissatisfaction remain significantly elevated within the homosexual population, the problem appears to come from within: ones own conscience confronting choices that treat both the body and the other person as mere instruments of pleasure. Incest, extreme promiscuity, betrayal, and practices that reduce sex to pure hedonistic mechanics provoke a natural repulsion in most people, this repulsion is not arbitrary. It reflects an intuitive recognition that the human body has a purpose that goes beyond momentary pleasure, when we ignore this, we gradually begin to see ourselves less as beings endowed with dignity and more as animals driven by raw impulses, the frequent outcome is existential emptiness, depression, and an endless pursuit of new sensations to fill the void.
