Sometimes I get a message from one of the people I went to highschool with, but I usually ignore him. I had nothing but contempt for the people I was surrounded by but since I went to a tight-knit and small school in a semi-rural area, there was no way I could permanently get rid of the people I was surrounded by, and being a "loner", voluntarily or involuntarily was virtually impossible due to how small the school was. Being surrounded by people you despise is a million times worse than being on your own, especially after you become actively conscious of the social dynamics present in most peer-to-peer communication. Currently, I only ever message members of my immediate family and its only when they ask me for something or I ask them for something. It's infinitely better than trying to find common ground with people who are literally just mirror images of the last 10 reels they watched and the last 2 FoTM television shows/games they "consumed".
