>Symbols should directly relate to what the flag represents, no random colors patterns or icons
>2-3 colors, preferably ones which are basic and contrasting
>Do not use lettering or complex seals that become illegible from a distance
>Use similar patterns to existing flags to show a historical/regional connection
Here is a flag that uses meaningful symbolism and shows its connection to China, but it is not simple, it uses more than 3 colors, and it uses lettering. So it only follows two of these five principles
