The development of shows, movies, and games would rely on direct patronage and crowdfunding. Say IP disappeared tomorrow and I was really impressed by the Mario Sunshine fan expansion Super Mario Eclipse and would like to see their talents put to the creation of a 3D platformer made from the ground up. I and other admirers can petition them to start a crowdfunding campaign that would both cover development of the game as well as compensation for the individuals involved. Or if I were a particularly wealthy individual, I could personally the developers like aristocrats and members of the bourgeoisie patronized individual artists in the past.
