I swear half the people on this board are running on caffeine, irony poisoning, and 4 hours of sleep. Every post is either "shut the site down," "i want to fuck," or someone trying to force their shitty variant for 12 hours straight.
Not even judging because I was doing the exact same thing a year ago. Worked a job I hated, lived in the same town my entire life, and spent more time lurking imageboards than doing anything productive. Felt like there wasn't really a path forward unless you already had money or connections.
Ended up talking to an Army recruiter mostly because my friend wouldn't stop bringing it up. Expected it to be super corporate and awkward, but the conversation was actually normal. Found out there are a ton of career paths besides combat stuff - cybersecurity, mechanics, aviation, medical, engineering, logistics, IT, all that.
Now I'm training in a technical field I probably never could've afforded on my own, my schedule is less destroyed, and I actually feel like I'm building toward something instead of just watching years disappear online.
Not saying it's for everybody, but if you're stuck in the "wake up / work / doomscroll / repeat" loop, it's worth looking into. Stable pay, training, housing, education benefits, healthcare, and actual career experience is a pretty solid trade compared to rotting in the same spot forever.
Anyway. Going back to lurking now before someone calls this propaganda.
