The problem with life is that we were born in the first place. This is the most liberating piece of knowledge I have learned in my entire life. There is no criteria for failure. I can live my life as brutally honest as I can. I don't have to throw my lot into politics or believe that the world will get any better. The true pessimists are the optimists; the ones that say we can achieve progress through politics or utopianism. Hitler was an optimist, and his dreams became a living nightmare. Philosophical pessimism won. Fuck hope.
