Idk about that. He was a Reaganite and has been rubbing shoulders with the old guard since at least his twenties. Really, what's the most establishment thing he's done? Donate to Ron Paul's presidential campaigns? As sad as it is, he was never going to win and a lot of powerful people donated to those campaigns like Google execs and shit. My best guess is that they wanted to propagate a vulgar and incomplete series of libertarian -ish reforms to further enrich and empower the Silicon Valley nouveau riche.
