Depends if we're talking about the cafeteria food or what they're serving the patients. If it's the cafeteria, it's partially because it helps with income, and partially because if someone is eating in a hospital cafeteria, they're already having a pretty shit day. As for the patient food…well, it's debatable if you can call that "good".

i don't know if it was because i was out of it for most of my stay or if it was because i was in a very well funded hospital but the one i was in last december had decent food. i know they were probably the pillsbury ones that come in a cylinder but i would constantly beg for more cookies but i had to be hand fed them because i couldn't feed myself for the first couple of days i was there

yeah, just looked it up, the place i was at is one of the best hospitals in the state and probably in the entire country too.
