Thoughts on rehabilitative justice and anti-carceral thought? Believe it or not this is a mildly popular leftist ideology

 â„–3369853[Quote]

It literally sounds like a rightoid strawman, "the crazy radical leftists want to abolish prisons"

This nigga really did just say rapist rights = trans nigger rights

But its a real ideology

I am a socialist and believe in rehabilitative justice. I believe the best form of rehabilitation is to give people skills that would allow them to find a job once they leave prison. If I had it my way, I would have all prisoners trained in physical work that benefits the state and country, so construction, plumbing, etc, and have prisoners work on public infrastructure projects. Why should a person who broke the law be rewarded with free food, clothes and a bed, while draining money from everyone else. They should be made useful. Theres loads of potholes to fill, and projects like public transport systems, new bridges, roads and tunnels could all benefit from the labour.

The idea doesn't sound too unreasonable to myself, it's a careful balancing act that to weigh the rights of a victim and the rights of a perpetrator.

Its not radical leftists, its radical libtard moralfags. They larp as leftists but have no clue about what they talk about

Most leftists wouldn't see what you're picturing as rehabilitation but as slavery, like prisoners work in American jails and this is why leftists say that America never abolished slavery

make the criminals work. they do any job they can do, and if they can't find them, make them work as like janitors or construction workers. that way we can replace the ultra low skill workers (migrants) with natives (take that WEF). you keep their rights, so they can try to appeal their sentence, have workers rights, paid leaves, etc. the job makes them able to afford their food and housing and prison infrastructure. so they are forced to work, but only the minimal they need. they're not pushed for anything more than the minimum (that'd be slavery o algo). but they can work for more if they want to (in that case idk they'd get more food or something). the job is mostly provided to them by the state, but if they can get an even better job based on their skills, give it to them o algo. the job lets them get rehabilitated and reintroduced into society. by the end of their sentence, the state will have paid practically nothing, they will be rehabilitated, they will be able to find a job, and they will have kept their rights. win for everyone

Their idea of rehab justice is to give a criminal more for free than what the law-abiding person who pays for it all gets. If you broke the law in a major way, you lose the right to complain or to pick what sort of job you want. You will be put to work to help everyone else in society, to repent for what you did.

In amerikkka the jews made privatised prisons, so they actually mistreat prisoners by not feeding them properly and by doing it all for profit. I see the work I am talking about as a kind of community service. You aren't working to benefit a company, but the rest of soyciety. They should be fed properly if they are going to work.

It's just a push for "reeducation" camps. Sometimes, the general education system isn't enough to indoctrinate a person.

I kinda mean this. They should be able to have weekend and appeals and stuff. The ability to work gives them the option to prove their intentions. The state should just give them a list of jobs, and let them pick which one they would like to do. They should leave prison with a small sum of money so they have something to get up on their feet with if they haven't got a place to stay. They should also be guaranteed the option to keep their current job the state gave them if they want to, but this time receive a regular wage, that way there isn't the risk of them having to resort to crime to feed themselves fresh out of prison.

I don't get why people think rehabilitative and punitive justice are mutually exclusive. You can rehabilitate people who just stole something and execute murders and rapists, it's a very simple concept
