Even though I despise modern SpongeBob like the next guy, one talking point that makes no sense to me is that "Mr. Krabs is flanderized." Mr. Krabs' character has always been one-dimensional; he is used throughout the show as a plot device, and his main character trait is loving money. People claim that "Mr. Krabs was a mentor to SpongeBob" and "Mr. Krabs was a loving father to Pearl," but Mr. Krabs mentoring SpongeBob still benefited himself at the end of the day. Furthermore, being a parent doesn't automatically mean he has good traits—there are tons of parents who are pieces of shit. I guess the reason people claim Mr. Krabs' character is flanderized is because his greed back then was funny, but now, due to bad writing, it just isn't funny anymore.
