I considered trying to rewrite some portion of A Clockwork Orange in soyspeak instead of nadsat when I had more time on my hands, but I never got around to it. There were a lot of other changes I wanted to make, too.

The Korova milk bar would be the Kolyma sproke bar. Alex would have been Nate. Dim could have been Hunky. Billy Boy’s gang could be the Jarty. The guy Alex kills in prison could be Rapeson. The Intinfmin could be one of the admins, maybe Kuz. Alex’s parents’ lodger is a blak bvll. I don’t know about the part where Alex ‘apes those cacas, but we certainly have the terminology for it. The issue I ran into when thinking about it is that there are a lot of things like that which wouldn’t accurately reflect the sharty, and a lot of the nadsat terms don’t have a soyspeak equivalent other than abbreviating them, which would get repetitive.

A few things I just thought of: the different types of sproke could have different types of meds in them, like vaccines, niggerweed, etc. Drenchrom could obviously stay, but it could be renamed to something like ‘renochrome (playing off of the Reddit way of speaking) or ‘chrome. Also, the Intinfmin would be Quote because xe’s a bong, and he’s basically trying to destroy the country/party and sissy hypno Nate/Alex. A big question I forgot about is if the Sharty would be the country, fitting with the Intinfmin/admin thing or if it would just be the name for the droogs, who could also be called the ‘teens or something. On that note, as far as I understand, nadsat is usually a suffix in Russian, meaning its isolated version could be translated as “-teen” or rather “‘teen,” just as we write it
