I was a kid when I watched that but in retrospect it's nothing compared to the first movie, it is better than Seasons 4+

Seriously Spongebob's golden age ended with the first movie, shit was literally a hero's journey and it had a gemmy soundtrack with the flaming lips and the best band of all time: Ween (which unfortunately has tranny fans so I recommend listening to the band yourself), I do see the arguments that there can be seen some traces of NuSlopbob which is fair but it's hard to notice
I also heard the game for the movie is really good, I only played the BfBB remake however which I heard is iron cuz it doesn't have "le PS2 Graphics", it's also sort of a DNB game cuz there isn't much content, you could seriously finish it in a day unless your one of those completionists who collect SNCA.

The first movie was technically the end of the series. Steven Hillenberg intended Spongebob to end on the 3rd (or 4th?) season; Nickelodeon was making mad schekels from GemBob, so they decided to continue the series, while Hillenberg retired.

NuBob is becoming some kind of ouroboros where they constantly nostalgiabait soylent consumers with each episode (They even made a reference to Squidward's Suicide once, GEG). The 2nd and 3rd movie pale in comparison to the first one. The 3rd one is especially egregious because they got that black chick who makes music about whoring around to sing for it.
