Absolute gem film, the 2002 game is alright but it kinda stops feeling like a game about THE THING halfway through. Also kinda turns the story into a generic evil corpo story, also MacReady comes back as a deus ex machinca to help you beat the final boss. I don't consider it canon but apparently John Carpenter does

Keyed. After first watching it as a caca it made me too scared to leave my mother alone when we went picking mushrooms outside, since I thought she would be consumed and transform to some kind of horrible beast the instant she left my view.
