you could just watch the final episode since everything else is filler

The first season is good, the second and the third are decent although the ending of the third season sucks ass (Billy gets the opportunity to kill Homelander but refuses to use it for absolutely retarded reasons so everything just goes back to square one). The fourth and fifth seasons are brimstone. You can literally stop watching the show at any time and then skip straight to the final episode like the guy above suggested because everything after the first season is a filler.

yes now go watch it, of course it gets steadily worse as the series progresses like all of them
