Prehaps not his best sounding work, but very interesting nonetheless. I've tried singing this one with some friends and it feels impossible to nail it. If it isn't perfect it sounds like a headache in vocal form.

It's definetly my second favorite era, and in many respects more interesting for a listener. But there is something very special with the renaissance era for a performer. It has a closer connection with the older chants, with the point of the music being elevation and a "floating/hovering" experience.

It's a bummer that the Tenebrae services were discontinued after Vatican II. So many works now going unused because of it…
