They are very lovely birds, intelligent and playful. As a teen I found crow that had hurt its wing and nursed it back to health. It kept hanging around house for a long time after it recovered. It would sit on the roof and greet me when I got home.

australian magpies are the embodiment of the faustian spirit. if you befriend them, they'll swoop anybody who encroaches on your property. you can feed them CHEESE. when they see eagles, 3 magpies will intercept and escort them out of their territory (1 on either side, 1 behind). they are noble aristocratic birds.
