depends on what you're using. What I usually do is I remove all the white from the jak and keep only the black. Then draw a /calm/ expression. Download a /calm/ing image off of google (be it a sea or sky) and paste that under the outline. Then that should be good. For something like the original /calm/ colors, you could keep the white only inside the jak's face at first. Then after you imported the background, merge the two layers into one. Then remove the white inside the face, and add a gradient of your choice.
