nothing compares to 2013-2015 apocalypse rising, it was aryan beyond belief, fast paced but casual combat in first and third person, on a small enough map, which meant you could quickly get back into the game again
functionally, it was almost a battle royale with a hunger bar and base building
the devs have been trying to capture this same lightning in a bottle for almost 10 years with apocalypse rising 2, but that game's more of an unturned clone at this point

idk i played the original one and the sequel and i think the og is a piece of shit compared to apoc 2. I mean the base building i kinda miss but the pvp was so shitty apoc 2 really perfected the better parts of 1. The only part that 1 has over 2 is that the sequel's map is a little too big there's parts where you will be walking for at least 2 minutes straight which doesn't sound bad until you actually experience it.
