Persona 3 reboots the series, only occasionally mentioning characters and events from the previous 2, most of which are easter eggs. I'd say get into 3 first. Also persona's fanbase is filled to the brim(stone) with the most autistic trannies imaginable, outside of 4cuck you'll struggle to find chuddy fans of if that matters to you.

P1 is a good gothic jrpg, very different from rest of series. I played a good bit of it and would recommend it if you like dungeon crawling classic style jrpgs
