Because No Nut November is actually doable for gooners. Gooners can't simply stop gooning forever, right now, because they don't want to permanently "lose" the pleasurable sensations associated with gooning, as they are still too attached to those sensations. No Nut November doesn't take gooning away forever; it just takes it away for now. This makes gooners tolerate the absence of gooning (as they believe they can just goon later), which- after NNN- ultimately leads to them being less influenced by impulse when they do decide to goon. They might put off gooning for several days to finish some work. Because of this, they will be much less likely to goon; at that point, it is simply a matter of telling them to not goon at all, a request which they will have a much easier time obliging.
