Okay so obligatory long time listener, first time poster, and mobile warning.
I went to Walmart the other day to get my oil changed and bought some new Switch games. One was Bayonetta 2 with a download code for the first game. When I went to redeem it, it said it was already used. A code from a sealed game? Used? How? I contacted Nintendo customer service, explaining my situation and the guy I spoke with said he would pass it along and I would receive an email in a couple days. A couple days later, I get an email, giving me the same nonsense that I already knew and told me to talk to the retailer. Fed up, I messaged back, stating again it was from a factory sealed box from Walmart, shouldâve worked, and Walmart probably wouldnât give me a new code. Ultimately, I got a new code, but felt bad about how I acted, so I wrote back apologizing for my behavior and thanking them for their help. Probably wonât hear from them again, but I hope they at least got it. So AITA for getting worked up over a bad code?
Edit: someone asked for what I said in the email. Part one is in response to the first email. Part two is my apology.
âI donât think you understand. The code was on the inside of the cover of a SEALED box bought from a WALMART. Unless someone at the factory happened to randomly pick that code to use for themselves, there shouldnât be any reason for that code to be redeemed already. Even if I do go back to the Walmart and explain the situation, I doubt theyâll believe that I havenât used the code for myself. Canât you just give me a new code? If I have to pay for it, fine. But itâs ridiculous that something from a brand new item isnât working as expected.â
âThank you, the code worked perfectly. I apologize for sounding harsh or angry, Iâve just been dealing with a lot lately with work and trying to find a new job, I just couldnât take any more nonsense. I appreciate you helping and again, Iâm sorry for snapping. Hope you all enjoy your day. :)â
