Cats can thrive on vegan kibble because they don't need meat - they need the amino acid taurine. This is found one of three ways: in meat, in dry food fortified with taurine derived from animals, or in dry food fortified with synthetic taurine.

Not every cat will eat tinned meat. The only difference between kibble with taurine from slaughterhouse leftovers, vs kibble with synthetic taurine is that kibble with taurine from slaughterhouse leftovers is often also fortified with synthetic taurine because the leftovers from slaughterhouses often isn't enough to fulfil a cat's daily requirement.

Continually saying "cats need meat" instead of "cats need taurine" frames the issue incorrectly. It implies that slaughterhouse leftovers is an essential product, when infact synthetic alternatives are available.
