xhe was supposed to parody superhero media, and at the same time offer a realistic portrayal of society if superheroes existed, and parody both sides of the politicsl spectrum (like south park). these 3 pillars diluted over time until they were completely gone by s5. now it's just a marvel tv show but with gore, sex and swear words, very little political commentary, and absolutely no realistic portrayal of society.
