Should I install linux on my laptop and wait until college starts (mid january) or should I just keep windows 10. I don't like the ui of windows 10 and windows 11 is bloated, not to mention how both of them lack basic features.
>Just dual boot bro
The m.2 screw on my laptop was overtightened at the factory so I can't do that no matter how much I wish I could. The screw is completely stripped so I'll have to get pliers and a replacement m.2 screw.

>asking /tech/ stuff on /pol/
dumb retard
>linux or win10 for college
windows 10 will most likely be the only thing supported for any programs you might need to use
>dual boot
would recommend to not do this

Linux is good, and in my opinion, the sooner you learn it the better. Unless your college requires you to use certain proprietary windows-only software, I would definitely at least give it a try. I'd start with Manjaro, maybe Mint if you are a total plebian.

Yeah I already use linux on my desktop and used it before I took my SAT (I had to install bluebook which doesn't work on linux.)
I was planning on installing devuan (considered gentoo but I don't want to wait an entire day for it to compile, yes I did do the funny. Even installed DWM, pretty sure I have a screenshot of it on my main pc)
Also the manjaro team is incompetent they ddosed the AUR multiple times because they couldn't properly code an AUR helper. If you want arch for noobs just get EndevourOS (or better yet, Artix)

install gentoo saars

 â„–2509924[Quote]

just use mint or arch bro

Got the screenshot

Mate it took me an entire fucking day to compile during the initial installation. Messing around with DWM was fun, but I couldn't for the life of me get a working status bar that showed my battery.

>>2509927
wtf are you compiling it literally just takes a flash drive, ventoy, and some ball knowledge

 â„–2509942[Quote]

>>2509929
The kernel.
Was I not supposed to do that?

 â„–2509944[Quote]

>>2509942
Well that and basically everything other than the browser

 â„–2509950[Quote]

>>2509942
you can just download the .iso afaik

 â„–2509963[Quote]

>>2509950
I don't think you understand
The entire point of gentoo is that just about everything is compiled. That's how portage works.

 â„–2509965[Quote]

>>2509963
oh i see. why use gentoo over another distro
